Event Description

How do we chart unique courses through the academy that reaffirm our commitments to self and culture?  Salamishah Tillet will join us in a fireside chat to share her journey from Ivy League graduate student to professor and celebrated change agent in academia and beyond via her work with socially-conscious arts projects that create connections between academic and non-academic communities in Newark, as well as her New York Times cultural criticism, which garnered the 2022 Pulitzer Prize.   Through hearing her story and insights, our audience will leave with an understanding of the myriad ways their scholarly research may coalesce with cultural awareness, artistic collaboration, social critique, and communal connection.
